ClearFrame highlights authorial choices in text and shows neutral alternatives. It uses the CSS Custom Highlight API, so pages are marked without rewriting their DOM.
Use the popup to choose which categories to track, recolor them, or switch from highlighting to neutral replacements.
What it catches
- Sensationalism - clickbait, hype, all-caps emphasis, and reveal-style wording.
- Framing and sourcing - loaded framing, vague authority, uncertainty, and distancing language.
- Judgment and hostility - moral labels, derogatory phrasing, aggression, and conflict-heavy wording.
- Softening and agency hiding - euphemisms, passive phrasing, and wording that makes responsibility harder to see.
- Style and voice - colloquialisms, idioms, repeated phrasing, and rhetorical questions.
